Miltiadis Varvitsiotis

Alternate Minister of Foreign Affairs
Miltiades Varvitsiotis serves as Alternate Minister of Foreign Affairs for European affairs of the Hellenic Republic. He is a Member of Parliament elected in the B2 Western Sector of Athens electoral district with the Nea Demokratia party. He holds a degree in Law from the Law School of the University of Athens and a postgraduate degree in International Relations from Harvard University. He is fluent in English, French and Italian.
He has served as Minister of Shipping and the Aegean (2012-2015) and as Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs (2009). He was elected as Member of Parliament in the election of 2000 and has been elected ever since in all national elections, consecutively.
He has been a member of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe since 2004. On October 9th, 2018 he got elected as Vice-Chairperson of the Group of the EPP in the Assembly. Also, he has served as Chairperson of the Parliamentary Committee of Defense & Foreign Affairs (2007-2009&2013).
