Michael Sakellis was born in 1947. He studied Economics in the Greek University of Economics with post graduate studies in Shipping, in London. He started working in the shipping industry in 1975. In 1979 he becomes Commercial Director for Strintzis Lines and then for Blue Star Ferries until 2004 when he became CEO until February 2016.

Mr. Sakellis is Vice-President of the Board of Directors of Attica Group, President of the Association of Passenger Shipping Companies (SEEN), member of the Board of Directors of the Hellenic Chamber of Shipping, of Seamen Pension Fund (NAT), member of the Greek Tourism Confederation (SETE) as well as member of the Council for Coastal Transportation (SAS).
