George Dermatis was born in Athens and holds a BSc degree from Warwick University (England) in Economics and Management, LLM in Maritime Law from Cardiff University (England) and MSc in Shipping, Trade & Finance from Cass Business School (London). He began his career working in shipbroking companies in Oslo and London. Having previously acquired basic work experience, he returned to Greece and joined his family business, Intermodal Shipbrokers. In 2005, Intermodal established a representative office in Shanghai offering the same range of services and, in 2009, George, was appointed Managing Director for a period of 4 years. When he came back to Greece, he took the same position in Intermodal Head office. He is a member of the BoD at the Greek Shipping-Shipbroking Companies Association (GSSCA).
