Born in 1956, Mr. Rehder worked as assistant shipyard manager prior to earning a business degree atEuropean Business School, Frankfurt. In 1981 he joined IntercontinentChartering Inc., New York, as a chartering broker for 3 years. In 1984 hemoved to Hamburg in order to work as a chartering broker with the family companyCarsten Rehder (GmbH & Co). Since 1987 he is the managing partner atCarsten Rehder (GmbH & Co) where he also became responsible for theshipowning side of the business in 1996.

Mr. Rehder has been active for many years in various trade organisationsand he is member of the Council of German Shipowners Association. He is the chairman of the Maritime and Ports Committee of the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce, President of theEuropean Community Shipowners Association and Board Member of DNVGL Group AS, Oslo.
